Star-Studded Cast Joins Keke Palmer And SZA In TriStar’s Upcoming Untitled Buddy Comedy

A strong cast has been added to TriStar’s next buddy comedy, which named and stars Keke Palmer and SZA, a four-time Grammy winner. Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Katt Williams are joining the group. Syreeta Singleton wrote the screenplay, while Lawrence Lamont is the movie’s director. Big names in the industry include Hoorae’s Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi, ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis, and Macro Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks.

The project produced by Sony Pictures’ CoCre lab is an example of ColorCreative and Sony working together to support diverse screenwriters and generate their first studio picture. This program demonstrates a dedication to bringing innovative concepts to the big screen.

With his latest role in Vacation Friends 2 and upcoming roles in Sony’s Harold and the Purple Crayon, Howery maintains his impressive track record. Known for her work on the Emmy-nominated television series Abbott Elementary, Janelle James has received numerous nominations for awards, including three in a row for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

The Broadway sensation Dreamgirls original cast member Vanessa Bell Calloway has an astounding eight nominations for NAACP Image Awards. Kenya Barris produces The Vince Staples Show on Netflix and The Black Hamptons on BET.

Keyla Monterroso Mejia, who rose to popularity in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, will appear in the Amazon series You’re Cordially Invited with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.

The actress Maude Apatow, best known for playing Lexi Howard in HBO’s Euphoria, has formed Jewelbox Pictures and is slated to film Poetic License, her directing debut.

Throughout his two-decade career, Katt Williams was honored with an Emmy for his guest appearance on Atlanta. In the comedy-horror picture The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2, he co-stars with Danny Trejo, Snoop Dogg, and Mike Epps.

This terrific and varied cast promises to add a distinct and enjoyable dynamic to the upcoming comedy, making it one of the most eagerly awaited movies currently in development.
