Nickelodeon has released the final trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants. In this new SpongeBob adventure, SpongeBob and Patrick are captured by the infamous Flying Dutchman and brought to the darkest corner of the sea. The Dutchman plans to use SpongeBob’s innocent soul to lift the curse placed on himself. It is up to Squidward, Mr. Krabs and Gary to find SpongeBob and stop the Flying Dutchman before it is too late.
Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke will of course be reprising their iconic voice roles as SpongeBob and Patrick. Rodger Bumpass and Clancy Brown are also returning as Squidward and Mr. Krabs respectively. Interstingly, The Flying Dutchman will not be voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray. Instead, Mark Hamill will be voicing the character this time around. The supporting cast is rounded out by Mr. Lawrence as Plankton, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, as well as performances from Regina Hall, George Lopez and Ice Spice. Ice Spice also composed an original song for the film titled “Big Guy,” and can be heard during certain parts of the trailer.
A collaboration between Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation, the film was directed by Derek Drymon, who helmed the fourth Hotel Transylvania film, Transformania. It was written by Pam Brady (Hot Rod, Smurfs) and Matt Lieberman (Free Guy). The film debuts in theaters in December 19, the same day as Avatar: Fire and Ash. Watch the full trailer below.
