Spider-Man: Far From Home has been releasing details at a trickle over the past few months. CinemaBlend just revealed that the Comic-Con in Brazil got an early look at the trailer for the highly anticipated web slinger film. However, the biggest announcement was the reveal of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. Gyllenhaal also revealed that the suit is completely full of secrets, stating “It was incredible, the suit is an incredible suit, and there are a lot of different secrets in the suit that I think are really cool. So there are a lot of things revealed about that suit.”
Omelete held an interview with Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland where they revealed that the suit lights up. Holland and Gyllenhaal discussed what it was like working with the suit on set saying:
Holland: So you’re doing a scene with him…
Jake: … and everyone would start looking at me like…
Tom: … ugh, it’s so bright!
Jake: The coolest thing about the suit is that there are some major secrets in it, and that are pretty cool.
Tom: Totally.
CinemaBlend also revealed that the famed villain isn’t going to fighting against Spider-Man, but work with him. They discussed that Mysterio was hired by none other than Nick Fury. It was also revealed that Spider-Man is getting a new suit called the stealth suit, which was designed by Nick Fury. Holland apparently also teased the many cool features in his suit stating “It’s really cool, it has all sorts of cool little features. For me as an actor, it was really interesting to try and figure out how Spider-Man would move and act in such different attire.”
Jacob Batalon who plays Ned, Peter’s best-friend and Spider-Man’s guy in the chair also had tidbits to reveals. Batalon states “It’s basically just about the kids going on a European vacation. We go to London, we go to Prague, we go everywhere. And it’s just a really fun thing. There’s a lot of dynamics that go on, like a lot of relationship stuff, a lot of cool funny stuff, and fun stunt stuff. The main focus is for [Peter] not to be Spider-Man, per se. But he gets dragged into it. He reluctantly saves the world again with Mysterio. Mysterio is a good guy in this. They’re both teaming up to kill it — kill the game. To defeat all these Elementals monsters.”
It seems as more and more details that are released the more exciting Spider-Man: Far From Home seems to be. Jake Gyllenhaal also starred in the critically acclaimed The Sisters Brothers, Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain and Donnie Darko. Other than Gyllenhaal there have been little to no changes from the original cast and crew.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to release July 5, 2019 and seems to be shaping up as an intriguing and creative sequel that will hopefully improve on its predecessor.
