With Avengers: Endgame coming close to surpassing Avatar as the highest grossing film of all time, some might think Marvel couldn’t even make more money at the box office. With Spider-Man Far From Home coming out in less than a month, the next film in the MCU is gearing up to make a similar financial splash.
Everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man made his solo MCU box office debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 with an opening of $117 million dollars. Therefore, it’s likely that Far From Home will fare much better given Peter Parker’s now established role in the franchise, as well as marking the conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 3 lineup. The Marvel sequel is expected to make a debut of $150-$160 Million in terms of massive July Openings.
Considering how the film’s release will coincide with the Fourth of July weekend, it’s likely to generate even more cash from moviegoers. Sony is expecting Far From Home to make around $180 Million over the course of the film’s first six days in theaters. With such a big opening expected after the hype of Endgame, 2019 will surely be Marvel’s biggest year by far.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 2nd 2019. It’s cast includes returning actors Tom Holland, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, Marissa Tomei, Colbie Smulders, Jon Favreau and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio.
