Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse has received a release update. After the success of both films, fans are highly anticipating the third installment of the Spider-Verse series, especially after it was initially planned to be released on March 29th, 2024. However, the Sony Marvel movie was indefinitely delayed after being taken off the studio’s release schedule. This new update tells fans the delay will be longer than expected.
The third Spider-Verse film will not be released in 2025. A report from Deadline says the studio is “taking a lot of tender loving care” to conclude Miles’ story. In September, a rumor that the film was unlikely to be released before 2027 due to the story being scrapped for creative reasons was floating around until producer Christopher Miller and composer Daniel Pemberton refuted it.
With the claims of a 2027 release refuted and 2025 being off the table, the film will likely find a release date in 2026. Jharrel Jerome, the actor of Miles G Morales, spoke to ScreenRant and said he has not recorded any lines for the film yet.
Shameik Moore, who plays Miles Morales, explained why Jerome voices Miles G Morales instead of him. “unfortunately, it’s another dude playing the voice—not unfortunately. Unfortunately for me, but exciting for the fan base.” He says this is the case for all of the multiversal variants. He is not both Miles characters, “just like Jake Johnson isn’t both” Peter Parkers. Moore elaborates: “he’s not Peter A. Parker, he’s Peter B. Parker. Peter A. Parker was Chris Pine.”
A different voice actor plays each variant as a way to individualize each character and their respective universe more. Furthermore, it will set each Miles apart from each other, showing how different he would be without his dad and how he would be as a villain.
If Beyond The Spider-Verse were to have come out in March 2024, it would have been released only 9 months after Across The Spider-Verse. And given the 5-year gap between Into The Spider-Verse and Across, the third one releasing that soon after never seemed possible. With the advancement the Spider-Verse films have made in the animation world, it’s no surprise that Beyond The Spider-Verse will need a couple of years before it is ready.
