Spider-Many: Beyond the Spider-Verse production could be more underway than fans thought, as Greta Lee, who voices the AI assistant of Spider-Man 2099 Lyla, gave an interesting response in a recent Screen Rant interview while promoting her new film, Tron: Ares.

When asked about her recording experience for Beyond the Spider-Verse, Lee confirmed having already recorded her lines for the third film, stating, “I love being a part of that, and getting to do voice work with the guys… It’s a wonderful mix of all the things that I love. It’s comedic, the world of it is so rich, and the writing is so good. It’s so fun to record…We did a lot of it together. The [Beyond the Spider-Verse], we grouped it with the last [film].” Because Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse were originally planned to be a singular film, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Lee filmed her lines in both films consecutively, but it could still be a sign that late June 2027 will hold strong.

Beyond the Spider-Verse’s original release date was planned for March 29, 2024, before being delayed to June 4, 2027, and then finally to June 27, 2027. The highly anticipated sequel follows immediately after the events of Across the Spider-Verse, with Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, taken and abandoned in an alternate universe. Meanwhile, Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Issac, along with the Spider-Society, races to get him back. Among the other cast members reprising their roles are Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jason Schwartzman as Dr. Jonathan Ohnn, Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar, and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown. Jharrel Jerome and Nicolas Cage are also expected to reprise their roles as Prowler and Spider-Man Noir, respectively. The feature also saw the return of directors Justin K. Thompson and Bob Persichetti, with a script written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Lord and Miller are named as producers alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh.

If the Beyond the Spider-Verse release date holds strong, it could be soon that fans might get a first look at the long-awaited sequel.
