While Spider-Man 4 has two big names at the forefront of its ensemble, the MCU feature is still looking for the film’s primary antagonist. With Tom Holland confirming that he is to reprise the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink to play “an undisclosed but key role,” rumors are flying around on who can compete to play this fan favorite’s main foe.
Insider Daniel Richtman stated via MCU Film News on X, that Marvel is “reportedly looking to cast a 30- to 50-year-old actress as the villain” in this upcoming Spiderman film. While there is no confirmation on who this cryptic enemy is currently, MovieWeb infers that “some notable options are Felicia Hardy (Black Cat), Lady Octopus, Silver Sable, and Spider-Queen.” The latter of the list seems to be the most popular rumor, as fans believe this fourth film is going to adapt Spider-Island. As to rumors surrounding who will play this character, the most popular one suggests that Succession star Sarah Snook is being eyed to play Spider-Man’s foe.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has taken the reins from Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. This has left fans to wonder what the plot of this fourth film will contain, but there have been rumors that this sequel is to “ serve as a light reboot of the franchise.” More information will be known in the coming months as production is set to begin this summer.
