Sophie Brooks to Direct ‘You Me Everything’ for Lionsgate

English filmmaker Sophie Brooks, known for her film The Boy Downstairs, is set to direct the upcoming movie You Me Everything. It’s said film will be an adaptation of the British novel of the same name by Catherine Isaac. Robert Nelson Jacobs (Chocolat) has written the script.

You Me Everything follows Jess, a mother of a ten year old named William, who travels to the French Countryside for summer. A man named Adam works in a hotel within a restored castle and happens to be the father of William and ex-boyfriend of Jess. As neither William nor Adam know of the other’s existence, Jess’s mission while here is to make Adam love their son and attempt to reunite their family as a unit. The book and its story has had mixed reviews but it is nonetheless an interesting and potentially Hollywood sappy plot.

With Brooks’s only other film being her mixed reviewed rom com about a woman moving into the same apartment building as her ex-boyfriend, she seems the perfect fit for this project. You Me Everything will be produced by Temple Hill and distributed by Lionsgate.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
