Sony’s ‘Hollow’ Starring Sydney Sweeney Eyeing Nicholas Galitzine for Ichabod Crane Role

Sony Pictures is planning on adding to its stacked cast for an upcoming spooky feature. Deadline has been informed by sources that Nicholas Galitzine is in final negotiations to play Ichabod Crane in Hollow as opposite Sydney Sweeney as well as starring Belmont Cameli and is based on filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer’s forthcoming debut novel. Beer is also set to direct the film as well as adapting her novel which is set to be published by Putnam, which is an imprint of Penguin Random House in fall 2027.

Beer and her Lab Brew banner are set to produce Hollow, as well as Sweeney via her HoneyTrap Banner and LuckyChap which also marks the first film as producer for HoneyTrap. HoneyTrap is a newly launched company that has Kaylee McGregor serving as President of Production and Development. It is also stated that it has announced a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Hollow is based off of Beer’s novel which is a reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and is told through the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel, which is played by Sweeney. The novel also reframes the original storyline as it positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize but a central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle. The story also blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary, high-concept reinvention of the tale.

The role of Crane was originally played by famous actor Johnny Depp in the Tim Burton 1999 adaptation titled, Sleepy Hollow. The role of Crane in this upcoming film is being eyed by Nicholas Galitzine, who is getting his shot at giving a new spin to the classic character in a role that had a long list of actors chasing the part. Galitzine is known for his breakout role in Red, White & Royal Blue and has lead to him becoming one of the busiest and more sought-after rising stars. He is also known for his role in The Idea of You which he starred opposite Anne Hathaway and earned rave reviews. He is also known as He-Man in Amazon MGM Studios’ The Master of the Universe as well as currently being seen in The Mosquito Bowl, which is a Netflix drama.
