After nearly two months of filming, production on Sony Pictures’ Until Dawn movie has officially been completed.
Director David F. Sandberg confirmed the wrap on Instagram by posting a photo of a clapboard in front of a bloody mirror.
“We made it until dawn! That’s a wrap on #UntilDawnMovie,” the caption reads.
The film marks Sandberg’s return to horror, after directing both Shazam! films for the past four years. Previously, Sandberg directed Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation.
Gary Dauberman crafted the screenplay for Until Dawn after previously working with Sandberg on Annabelle: Creation. The collaborators also act as producers for Until Dawn, alongside Roy Lee, Lotta Losten, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. It is a production by Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions.
The film is based on Supermassive Games’ interactive horror game of the same name. The ensemble cast includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-Young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion. Until Dawn game actor Peter Stormare has also joined the cast of the live action remake. Stormare provided the voice and motion capture for character Dr. Allan J. Hill, a psychiatrist and guide throughout the game. It is unclear if Stormare will be reprising the role within the film remake.
The game revolves around a group of characters reuniting a year after two of their friends went missing. The eight friends reside in a remote mountain lodge with a killer hunting each of them down. As the game progresses, the player has the opportunity to control each character to unfold the mystery and evade the killer.
The Until Dawn film has yet to receive an official theatrical release date.
