‘Snow White’ Remake May Have Marc Webb Directing

With the surge in live-action Disney remakes like  Aladdin and Dumbo, Disney is also planning on a Snow White reboot with Marc Webb as a potential director. Screenwriter Eric Cressida Wilson, who penned the script for the thriller Girl On The Train, is in talks to serve as screenwriter for this upcoming film. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, bestknown for writing the songs featured in Dear Evan Hansen and La La Land, will also collaborate on the live action Snow White’s soundtrack. Marc Platt, who previously produced Disney films like the theatrical adaptation Into The Woods, will serve as this film’s producer.

The original Snow White movie, titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, premiered in 1937 at Carthay Circle Theater, making it the first full-length animated feature Disney ever released. The film earned $8 million at the beginning of its run. Since then, the story has been reimagined in various genre forms like whimsical fantasy and action-adventure, including Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth and Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, and Armie Hammer.

Webb has directed films such as The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, 500 Days of Summer, and indie films including 2017’s Gifted.
