The sequel to the 2012 film Snow White and the Huntsman has received its official title: The Huntsman Winter’s War.
Gone are Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders – who famously got caught having an affair while he was married and she was in a relationship with Robert Pattinson – but Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron return for the sequel.
The development for the sequel was moving slowly, casting a shadow on the possibility of the film in the first place. Eventually the production moved on without them and decided to focus the film solely on the Huntsman, landing big-time names to replace Stewart in Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt.
Blunt will play Theron’s sister, who gains super powers much like her sister, with the ability to freeze anything – hence the title. Hemsworth and Chastain will play her lieutenants who turn on her after they refuse to follow her cold tyrant rule.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan– the visual effects supervisor in the first movie- will take over as director. This will be his directorial debut, who is also set to direct the remake of Highlander. The Hunstman Winter’s War is slated to be released April 22, 2016.
