Apple is working hard to be one of the top streaming services out there today. One of its most recent efforts is working closely with Skydance to cast Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, two of the most iconic actors of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, for its newest project Ghosted.
Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans are joining forces once again, but this time it won’t be in tight Marvel superhero outfits. The fan-favorite duo is in advanced negotiations with Skydance Media Films to be in their newest film Ghosted. Skydance has already produced blockbusters such as the recent Snake Eyes, Top Gun Maverick, Gemini Man, The Tomorrow War, and more.
Dexter Fletcher, who helmed Rocketman and Eddie the Eagle will be the director of this promising new project. Scriptwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, two of the writers of the Deadpool movies and Zombieland, pitched the idea to Skydance who was immediately on board.
Skydance Film Media has already produced several films that have exclusively been released on streaming services, instead of conventional movie theater releases. For example, The Tomorrow War, starring Chris Pratt and Without Remorse, starring Michael B. Jordan, were both released exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Apple is clearly on a quest to challenge the top streaming services and is in need of its own exclusive movie releases to do so. Killers of the Flower Moon, by legendary Hollywood director Martin Scorsese, is currently under production. Emancipation by filmmaker Antoine Fuqua starring Will Smith alongside Kitbag by director Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix are two of the major projects Apple is currently working on for its subscribers.
