‘Sinners’ Win For Best Actor Marks First Solo Win For Michael B. Jordan At Actor Awards

It’s been a prolific awards season for the major ensemble responsible for bringing Sinners to life. The Actor Awards had several accolades to present to those in the film on Sunday night, with one of them being none other than the leading star Michael B. Jordan, marking a major steppingstone in his career.

Sinners follows twin brothers in the early 1930’s who leave their lives as gangsters behind to return to their small hometown in Mississippi. In the midst of their orchestrating a big party for their closest friends, unexpected guests turn up and churn up trouble in the shape of an old evil.

Michael B. Jordan was responsible for playing the main characters, twin brothers Smoke and Stack. Upon the release of the film, Jordan’s performance garnered massive praise from audiences and critics alike. It resulted in a Best Actor nomination for Jordan at the Actor Awards, which he went on to win.

In his acceptance speech, Jordan said, “just being in this room right now with all these people who see me grow up in front of the camera and in these rooms — I feel the love and support that you’ve always given me and encouraged me to go on and do my best.”

Hollywood Reporter even noted that this is the first time Jordan has won at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG-AFTRA Awards. He was, however, included with the cast of 2018’s Black Panther when they won for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, but Sinners is the first time he’s won on his own. Also noted by Hollywood Reporter was that Jordan has been nominated for an Oscar for the same role in Sinners, but still has just over a week until he finds out if he wins.
