Heads up, horror fans. Ryan Coogler’s epic horror-action film Sinners is back for another round of terror. Amidst award season buzz ever since its original release back in April of this year, Sinners has just been announced to land back on IMAX screens later this month. From October 30th to November 5th, audiences can catch the Michael B. Jordan flick one more time. This will be the third time Sinners gets an IMAX and IMAX 70MM run, as the vampire film was given another release in May due to popular demand.
The 1930s Jim Crow-era film was a massive word-of-mouth success, making $366 million globally against a $90-100 million budget. Sinners currently sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. One of the key success factors for the movie has been its IMAX journey, as a film of its scale drew audiences to experience it in the most immersive way possible. The exclusive 70mm IMAX print also drew audiences to fill up showings where attainable. This year’s Halloween-inspired re-release can only add more to its impressive budget and fan appreciation, with a special-and spooky-way to celebrate the holiday.
The re-release also serves as a way to keep Sinners in talks for the upcoming awards circuit, with “Oscar season” just around the corner. There has been talks in hopes of recognition for director Ryan Coogler, lead actor Michael B. Jordan, as well as several supporting performances and numerous technical categories.
