Sinners continues its success at the box office, repeatedly taking in more money to add to its hefty profits. Although it has to yield IMAX screens this weekend to Marvel’s newest team, Sinners will return to IMAX starting May 15th.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners follows two twin brothers, both played by Michael B. Jordan, as they attempt to build a new life for themselves. After returning to their hometown, any hope of starting fresh is turned upside down when a sinister plague rears its ugly head, forcing them to take on this threat before it kills them.
Within its run, Sinners has already established a highly regarded reputation. Approaching its third weekend in theaters, it’s already made $181 million worldwide, while still continuing on a steady path of success. Critically speaking, the film has drawn glowing reviews across the board. Rotten Tomatoes has given it a certified fresh critic score of 98% and an audience score of 97%, while it currently sits at an 8.2/10 on IMDb.
Collider reported that not only will Sinners be returning to IMAX, but it will also come back in the 70mm format. The president of global distribution over at Warner Bros. Discovery announced that, after the massive demand, Sinners will make its comeback to IMAX.
“Audiences have spoken, and we listened. If ever a film needed to be experienced in this incredible, larger-than-life format, it’s Sinners,” he said while talking about the film.
Sinners in 70mm returns to IMAX from May 15th to the 21st.
