After its colossal box office and critical success, Sinners is finally coming to streaming. Max will be offering the film on its service starting July 4th.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners follows a set of twin brothers as they return to their hometown after running with big-time gangsters. As they pick up the threads of their old lives, a sinister evil wakes up and threatens them and everything they hold dear.
Upon its release, Sinners became a smash hit. Boasting a 97% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 96% audience score, audiences quickly became engrossed with the film and the story it told. Praise has been sung for countless aspects of the film, from the writing, done by Coogler, to the cinematography and score, to the dual performance of Michael B. Jordan as the twins.
When it comes to the box office, Deadline points out that Sinners was nothing short of magical. The film made a whopping $361 million worldwide, becoming one of the most lucrative films of the year thus far. With that gross, the film had become one of the most successful original films of recent years amidst a sea of reboots and sequels.
As well as Sinners, Coogler also helmed and wrote other acclaimed films like Creed, Fruitvale Station, and, perhaps most notably, Black Panther.
