Simone Ashley has been added to the cast of Joseph Kosinski’s Apple original film F1. Ashley, best known for her role on Netflix’s Bridgeton, has been cast along with Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, and Samson Kayo for the ensemble cast. The film follows the fictional 11th team on the F1 grid, APXGP, as they attempt to take the world title with the “car built for combat,” with drivers played by Brad Pitt and Idris Elba. This mystical 11th team has been working alongside real-life F1 counterparts as Kosinski works to use as many practical effects as possible and real shots of the motor cars for the film.
While Ashley’s role in the film has not been fully disclosed and is staying under wraps, as Variety put it, it is safe to assume she will likely play a part as a team member for APXGP. Ashley also made a surprising and welcomed appearance as a spectator at the recent British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit in Northampton, England, which was won by F1 co-producer and seven-time world title holder Lewis Hamilton racing for Mercedes.
Ashley and Hamilton shared a conversation at the Austin Grand Prix that was sure to delight fans anticipating the film. With such comradery between the cast, crew, and the people of F1, Kosinski’s film is likely to come racing into theaters with a fanfare of the most spectacular kind.
