It looks like the Deadpool 2 cast is still shaping up. The film has acquired a new cast member, Shioli Kutsuna (Oh Lucy!). While her role is currently unnamed, sources confirm that it will be crucial to the film as a whole. Kutsuna was born in Australia and spent most of her childhood there. Eventually she began making films in Japan after she moved to the country
Kutsuna will be working alongside a talented returning cast, as well as some other new faces. Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), and of course Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool himself) are slated to reprise their roles in the film. They will play their parts alongside newly-cast Josh Brolin (Cable) and Zazie Beetz (Domino). Like Ben Affleck, Chris Evans, and yes, Ryan Reynolds, this will not be Brolin’s first comic book-based role.
Preceded by the wildly successful first film in the franchise, Deadpool 2 will most likely also receive an R-rating. Thanks to the innovation of Deadpool, it shows that there is absolutely a market for R-rated superhero movies, a concept which was supported by Fox’s well-received new Wolverine film, Logan. If Deadpool 2 is anything like its predecessor, it will be interesting to see how it plays with and upends genre conventions.
Deadpool 2 will hit theaters on June 1, 2018.
