The second trailer for the upcoming superhero film Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released. The feature is a sequel to the 2019 film, the 12th installment of the DC Extended Universe.
The first Shazam! film followed Billy Batson, a fourteen-year-old boy living in foster care. Billy constantly escapes from his foster homes, trying to find his biological mother. He starts over with a new peculiar foster family. In this setting, things change for Billy when he receives powers from the wizard Shazam one day. He becomes his new champion and can transform into an adult-looking superhero when saying the word Shazam! At the end of the film, his foster siblings also receive powers. In the new trailer, we can see how they are a part of the new story, helping Billy/Shazam defeat new villains.
The generous two-and-a-half-minute trailer shows action-packed sequences featuring new characters. The new villains are the daughters of Atlas, played by Hellen Mirren, Luci Liu, and Rachel Zegler. The antagonists are a trio of ancient gods. The kids will have to fight against them for their powers and the world’s fate.
Fury of the Gods is directed by David F. Sandberg, who also directed the first film. The script was written by Henry Gayden and Chris Mogan. The original cast is also back, including Zachary Levi (Shazam), Asher Angel (Billy Batson), and Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy).
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be playing in theaters on March 17. You can take a look at the trailer here!
