Ever since his appearance in Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep has been easily one of Aardman Animation’s most popular characters, starring in various TV shorts over the years. The character made his full feature film debut in 2015 with Shaun the Sheep, which received huge critical praise and even an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Picture. Now, Shaun will return later this year with a new upcoming film subtitled Farmageddon. A new trailer was recently released for the upcoming stop-motion animated film.
The trailer starts out with an alien ship crashing down to Earth on the farm Shaun and his animal friends live on. He comes across a strange dog-looking alien and shows the creature all the neat things Earth has to offer. Things go a bit awry when they discover that the Government has captured the alien’s UFO and are investigating it for their own gain. In order help the alien return home, Shaun and his friends must find a way to retrieve her ship from the Government’s clutches. Thus, many gags and other humorous moments ensue while accomplishing this task with the lovable cast of Aardman’s farm animals.
The trailer still retains that initial simplicity of the first Shaun the Sheep, being a film with lots of charm conveyed through very little dialogue. This sequel doesn’t add much new to the forefront, but seems appropriate for fans of the franchise, so it’s neat to see Aardman keeping the character around in fun stop-motion films.
Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon is set for release on December 13th 2019. Watch the Full Trailer below
