‘Seventy-Two,’ A Biopic About Steve Harvey, Now Slated For Release

Another enduring pop-culture icon is going to be given the biopic treatment in Hollywood. Steve Harvey will be getting a brand new film, dubbed Seventy-Two centered around specific highlights of his career.

Steve Harvey has established himself as a widely recognizable pillar of comedy over the years. His career got its kickstart, after several other professions, with standup comedy in the mid 80s. He pivoted into television when serving as Its Showtime At The Apollo’s host.

Since then, he served as the host of game show Family Feud since it began airing, and even fostered his own television show, The Steve Harvey Show, which lasted 6 seasons from 1996 to 2002.

He’s also made his way into the realm of film, starring in several projects and even serving as a writer on 2012’s Think Like A Man.

“I’ve been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years, until I read the pitch for Seventy-Two. It focuses on one of the most difficult moments in my journey and career, and shows the world that hope is never truly lost. Wait until you see what we do with this,” Harvey himself had to say about the film.

Deadline pointed out that the film will take place around, as the title suggests, the 72-hour stretch before his 1993 performance at the Apollo Theater, while also displaying what it took for him to get there.

Deadline also noted that there is no writer attached as of yet.
