According to Deadline, a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters is officially in development, with Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation targeting a 2029 release date.

This news comes after Kpop Demon Hunters became Netflix’s most successful animated movie of all time. The film has amassed over 325 million views on Netflix, making it the most-watched movie on the streaming service. And during its theatrical release in late August, the film became the first Netflix film to top the domestic box office, grossing over $19 million in its two days in theaters.

The film’s soundtrack has also been an enormous success, staying in a runner-up position on the Billboard Top 200 albums before reaching number one on September 20th. The soundtrack then reached number one again on October 5th. The film’s success has also led to a successful partnership between Netflix, Hasbro, and Mattel for future toy releases in 2026. The costumes of the film’s three main characters, Rumi, Miranda, and Zoey, were also popular during this year’s Halloween season.

Not much information is currently known about the sequel, such as whether directors Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang will return, or which of the film’s voice cast members will return. Plot details are also not currently known.
