The trailer for the Sundance comedy The D Train has dropped on IFC Films’ YouTube channel. The movie stars Jack Black as a man trying to get his high school reunion together. He decides to recruit the star of their class, played by James Marsden, to come to the reunion with him, though he finds that accomplishing that feat is not as easy as he hoped.
Black plays Dan Landsman, a regular guy and the head of the committee for organizing the high school reunion. At the end of his rope trying to make the event happen, he goes to LA to convince his school’s most successful and “famous” alumnus, Marsden’s character Oliver Lawless (the face of a national ad campaign for Banana Boat sunscreen), to come back and make the reunion memorable. After a night of extreme partying, Lawless agrees to come, but Landsman finds that even though he got what he wanted, he’s also possibly become obsessed with his classmate.
Also starring Kathryn Hahn and Jeffrey Tambor, The D Train first premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Written and directed by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, the film will now be distributed by IFC Films. It is scheduled for release in theaters on May 8.
