A second trailer has been released for Supergirl. The new trailer features a cameo by David Corenswet’s Superman, as well as extended looks at the film’s main antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), and Lobo (Jason Momoa). In addition, Zor-El (David Krumholtz), Kara-El/Supergirl’s (Milly Alcock) father, can also be briefly seen.
Most importantly, this new trailer offers a clearer look at the film’s plot than the December release. The trailer provides a deeper look at Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Riley)’s role in the story. The trailer also shows that the plot will center on Krypto being poisoned and will be heavily adapted from Tom King’s critically acclaimed comic book run, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as that is a prominent plot element of that run.
Musically, the trailer shifts tone from the previous trailer. Where the previous trailer gave the film more of a Punk feel, with its use of Blondie’s “Call Me”, this new trailer goes for a more emotional feel with its remixed rendition of Jimmy Ruffin’s “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.”
Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie and is written by Ana Nogueira. It is the second film in the new DC Universe (DCU), following last year’s Superman. It’ll be released in theaters on June 26th. The new trailer can be viewed below:
