A second trailer has been released for Song Sung Blue, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. The film follows Mike, played by Jackman, and Claire Sardina, played by Hudson, a Milwaukee couple who achieved great success in the 1980s and 1990s after forming a Neil Diamond tribute musical band known as Lighting & Thunder. The film’s synopsis reads, “Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams.
This second trailer offers a more in-depth glimpse into the true story being told. In particular, the film shows the tragic incident in which Claire Sardina was hit by a car, severely injuring her left leg. In the trailer, glimpses of scenes of Claire dealing with the injury can be seen. The trailer also shows glimpses of later scenes, in which Mike Sardina attempts to continue the musical group without her.
Song Sung Blue is written and directed by Craig Brewer. In addition to Jackman and Hudson, the film also stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi. Brewer is also producing the film, alongside John Davis and John Fox. Erika Hampson and Greg Kohs are executive producers.
