A new The Little Mermaid trailer was released last week. The 30-second trailer showed an even deeper look at how the film who the film will feature. The trailer showed Jonah Hauer-King’s land-locked Prince Eric, and Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy’s evil Ursula, with Halle Bailey, set to star as Ariel the Mermaid.
Chicago filmmaker Rob Marshall will direct the film, The Little Mermaid follows the adventurous Ariel. The pic also features Tony Award-winning Daveed Diggs voicing Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina is the voice of Scuttle, Art Malik as Lord Grimsby, Norma Dumezweni as Queen Serena and Oscar-winner Javier Bardem as King Triton.
The film demonstrates the youngest and most rebellious daughter of King Triton, Ariel, eager to learn more about the world beyond the sea, who falls in love with the dashing Prince Eric while visiting the surface. Mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, but Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula for the chance to experience her life on land, but ultimately puts her life and her father’s crown at risk.
