Sebastian Stan has signed on to play Meryl Streep’s son in the upcoming TriStar drama Ricki and The Flash, according to Deadline. The film will tell the story of an aging rocker mom (Streep) attempting to repair her relationship with her estranged children. The film also stars Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda) and Rick Springfield (Boogie Nights), as well as Streep’s real-life daughter Mamie Gummer (Side Effects). Diablo Cody (Juno) wrote the screenplay, her first high-profile motion picture since 2011’s Young Adult, with Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) set to direct. Streep and Stan’s dysfunctional relationship will hit theaters on June 26, 2015.
Aside from reprising his career-making role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Captain America 3 – slated for 2016 – Stan has recently joined the Ridley Scott space drama The Martian alongside a large ensemble cast. He will also be appearing in The Bronze, co-written by The Big Bang Theory actress Melissa Rauch. With Stan’s star clearly on the rise, we can expect him to continue adding a diverse array of films to his resume.
