The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that they are still actively searching for missing actor Julian Sands following his disappearance in January in the Southern Californian San Gabriel Mountains.
Sands was known for his role in 1985’s A Room with a View, which was nominated for eight Academy Awards, alongside roles in Warlock, The Phantom of the Opera, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gotham, Smallville, and Elementary.
Sands officially disappeared on January 13, shortly after his 65th birthday, when he went hiking in the mountain range. The investigation was hindered by severe weather shortly after his disappearance. According to the department’s announcement, some parts of the mountain are still inaccessible due to ‘extreme alpine conditions.’
According to the department, nearly 90 search and rescue volunteers have put in almost 500 hours searching for Sands on eight different search missions, along with helicopters and drones.
On January 25th, his brother Nick Sands told the BBC, “I have come to terms with the fact he’s gone, and for me, that’s how I’ve dealt with it.”
However, many of Sands’ family members, including his son Henry, believe that his father will soon be found.
