Screen Gems is at it again as the studio has quickly made a big purchase on the script of Reparations by Jeff Howard and Andre Owens according to Deadline. Reparations is described as an action heist film that will be embedded with socially-aware motifs that will keep the viewers thinking even after the film concludes.
Much of the film’s details have been stowed away from the public ear but one of Reparations‘ key plot points was revealed by Screen Gems as a means to generate interest. It tells the story of Confederate gold being discovered by evil forces and an unlikely squad being assembled to acquire the gold and use it as a means to fund prolonged reparations. The film is currently in search of a director.
Crawl producer Craig Flores will be producing the film under his Bread & Circuses Entertainment banner. The alligator-centric disaster horror film proved to be a monster success last summer, accumulating approximately $91 million globally and prompted Viacom’s Bob Bakish to bring aboard the director to Reparations. Howard previously served as the supervising producer of The Haunting of Hill House and will play a pivotal role in the Netflix series Midnight Mass. Among his film credits are Gerard’s Game, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Before I Wake.
