Scott Foley Comments On His Own Confusion On Return To ‘Scream’ Franchise

The iconic horror franchise, Scream, is slated to be getting another new installment, marking the seventh film in the series. With the new film comes some actors returning to the series as well, even including ones who didn’t think they would be back.

Scott Foley joined the acclaimed series in Scream 3 as Roman Bridger, another character in the long-lasting string of surprise twist killers in the franchise. Bridger was one of the makers of the fictional in-movie Stab series, but began laying down plans to lure out Neve Campbell’s Sydney Prescott. He was killed in the climax of the film, stabbed several and ultimately shot.

Although cast in the upcoming Scream VII, Foley didn’t shy away from expressing his confusion of the part his character will play.

“Yeah, my character — spoiler alert — 25 years ago, I was the killer in Scream 3. He was brutally taken to town and killed. Now I’m back in Scream VII, and I’m not sure how it’s going to work,” he said while discussing a new project of his on Good Morning America

Screenrant notes that Kevin Williamson will take up directing the film for the first time in his long involvement with Scream. He wrote the first, second, and fourth film, as well as residing as one of the leading creative minds for the series.

While little is known about the actual story at this stage in development, the Scream franchise has brought back deceased characters before, sometimes even as a video recording. However, there’s no inkling as to how Foley’s character will be brought back into the fold.
