Scott Adsit, best known for his role as Pete Hornberger on 30 Rock, just signed on to play opposite Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming comedy St. Vincent de Van Nuys. It is the coming-of-age story of a 12-year-old boy who befriends a misanthropic war veteran living next door. Adsit and McCarthy will be playing the boy’s divorced parents and their separation causes a rift between father and son. Bill Murray will be taking on the role of the grumpy, war-hardened mentor, while other members of the cast include Naomi Watts, Chris O’Dowd (who worked with McCarthy on Bridesmaids), and Terrence Howard. The movie seems to be shooting on schedule with a few photos from the set having been released on JustJared, revealing a fake baby-bumped Naomi Watts and an injured Bill Murray.
St. Vincent will be the feature directorial debut of Ted Melfi, who also wrote the script. Melfi has acted as producer and director of various shorts including Roshambo and I Want Candy. The film is set to be released in 2014.
