Yesterday saw the release of an official trailer for the upcoming film Terminator: Dark Fate. This project will act as a direct sequel to one of the greatest action movies of all time, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, all while ignoring subsequent franchise entries like Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, and Terminator Genisys.
Dark Fate looks to undo the wrongs of these lackluster sequels which muddled the original plotline by wiping most of its slate clean. To aid in doing so, some familiar persons are returning to work on it. Both James Cameron and Linda Hamilton, who haven’t worked on a Terminator film since 1991’s Judgement Day, are returning as a producer and actor, respectively.
Hamilton will reprise her role as Sarah Connor as seen in the trailer footage, who arms herself with the most destructive of weapons to destroy the new Rev-9 model, another Terminator sent from the future to kill Daniella Ramos (Natalia Reyes). The trailer showcases a slew of special effects and action sequences that have come to be expected from the Terminator films, along with a rather vague portrayal of the plot where Connor recruits T-800 “Model 101” (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to help her protect this girl.
Dark Fate is directed by Tim Miller, best known for directing Deadpool, and will hit US theaters on November 1st of this year. The new trailer can be watched below!
