There are a couple of things that are synonymous with James Bond: a beautiful Bond girl, a shaken, not stirred martini, and an original song to go with the grandiose opening credits.
Following in the footsteps of Adele, who recorded the theme for the last Bond film, Skyfall (and took home an Oscar for her efforts; a first in the James Bond canon), singer Sam Smith has officially announced that he has recorded the theme for the upcoming Spectre, titled “Writing’s on the Wall”. Smith, who had previously denied recording the Spectre song in July, posted a pre-order link to purchase his Bond theme as a CD or vinyl single. Both formats are backed by an instrumental version of the track.
Just Tuesday morning, Smith tweeted:
This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song.

“Writing’s on the Wall” is set to debut on September 25th. Spectre hits theaters on November 6th and will feature performance from the returning Bond, Daniel Craig, as well as newcomers to the franchise Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Ralph Fiennes (Grand Budapest Hotel), and Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded).
