Sadie Sink, most known for her role as Max Mayfield on Stranger Things, learned of her involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day before she even got the call. During her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that she started seeing rumors of her involvement well before Marvel offered her the role. She said, “I found out through online theories. Like, before I got cast in Spider-Man, like, there was speculation online that said, ‘Sadie Sink is going to be in the new Spider-Man.’ I was like, ‘Hmm? I am?’ And sure enough, two days later, they asked me to do it. So yeah, those theories, there’s sometimes some truth to it.”
Her character in Spider-Man has been kept under wraps, which Sink stated was “torture.” She continued saying, “There’s so much speculation, too. I feel like there’s a new character every week.” Despite having trouble keeping it a secret, she did admit that her involvement on Stranger Things made it easier for her to keep secrets. “I had an amazing time working on that film. I can’t wait to talk about it more. There’s so much I want to share. That’s why I feel like keeping Stranger Things secrets are kind of easy because I have so many Spider-Man secrets I’m sitting on that feel even more secretive.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the grand return of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man after the box office hit that was No Way Home. Alongside Holland in the film are Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who will reprise their roles as MJ and Ned. Additionally, some other MCU faces will be joining the fray. Jon Bernthal will star as Frank Castle, or The Punisher, fresh off his return to the character in Daredevil: Born Again. Plus, Mark Ruffalo will return as The Hulk/Bruce Banner. Finally, Michael Mando will be playing Scorpion, who has not been seen since the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sadie Sink’s character has been speculated to be several different characters including a new version of Mary Jane Watson, Jean Grey or an original character. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on July 31.
