In recent years actors and actresses in the entertainment industry have shared their experiences through books, publications, and memoirs. Comedian Rebel Wilson is no different, as she is planning to release her memoir, Rebel Rising, on April 2. However, what is grabbing the attention of fans is not just the release of the whole book, but one specific chapter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson spoke in video on her Instagram page on March 15 about how she now has a “no assholes” policy when working on films in the industry now. She would go on to say she would reveal who “said asshole” was in chapter 23 of the book, but didn’t reveal any specifics in her video.
Later on last weekend, Wilson would update fans in a now-deleted Instagram Story about how “said asshole” was now threatening to stop press on her book release, “He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers. He is trying to stop press coming out about my book,” Wilson said in the video. “But the book WILL come out, and you will all know the truth.”
Then on another Instagram Story on Sunday, Wilson revealed who “the asshole” was: comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. When looking into both of their film histories, they worked on the 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby, an action comedy film that had the pair’s characters dating.
Documented in a 2014 article from the Australian publication The Courier Mall, Wilson talked about her experience on the set of the film in an interview with the Kyle and Jackie O radio show, saying how Cohen would ask her to do inappropriate things because they would be funny on camera.
Some things included going on set naked or during the last scene, Cohen asking Wilson to stick her finger in his butt, even though it wasn’t a part of the script. The reason he gave for his suggestion was that he thought it would be funny.
Currently, it is unknown if Cohen was able to stop the press for Wilson’s new book, but it seems that she plans on releasing her memoir on schedule.
