We all loved and still have a soft spot for Fox‘s 1990 comedy classic Home Alone. The movie followed Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), and eight year-old boy mistakenly left behind by his family on Christmas. After he’s left, he comes face-to-face with a couple of goofy robbers who he takes on all by himself.
Well, we’ve all grown up since that film was first released, and now Deadpool‘s Ryan Reynolds has begun developing an adult version of the film. Rather than a kid being left alone by his family, the new film, Stoned Alone will follow the experience of a man who misses his flight for his holiday vacation and gets high at home. The real homage to the original film is that this less-than-successful man will need to take on robbers in his home as well.
Although the film is still in relatively early development, we do know that Reynolds will be producing an potentially starring in the project. Augustine Frizzell (Never Goin’ Back) will direct, and Kevin Burrows and Matt Milder (The Package) wrote the script based off of an idea by Fox executive Matt Reilly.
Twentieth Century Fox has set up the upcoming comedy.
