Ryan Reynolds New Pitch Won By Netflix After Eight-Way Bidding War

Ryan Reynold’s current pitch for an upcoming heist comedy was the subject of a bidding war recently between eight potential buyers, with Netflix coming out victorious. The pitch is currently untitled.

Set to write the script is Dana Fox, with Simon Kinberg producing the film alongside Reynolds. Deadline released reports on the pitch initially, and following the report, the creative minds on the film went around to each studio to pitch it directly. Once it made the rounds, seven-figure bids started to procure the film.

Reynolds and Kinberg came up with the pitch together, after working closely as producers on the three Deadpool films. This also makes up a pair of projects that Reynolds has floating around for buyers, the other one being Calamity Hustle with Channing Tatum.

Deadline also shared that while the pitch does remain untitled, it shares the spirit of Oceans Eleven, and has an opportunity for a great ensemble cast to star in it.

Before Netflix came out on top, the eight-buyer bidding war was cut down to five, and then just four. Dana Fox is speculated to be paid 7-figures to pen the story. Some of Fox’s other writing credits include The Lost City and Cruella, and she is also set to produce this new project as well.

The film will be produced by Reynolds and Maximum Effort, along with Kinberg and Audrey Chon producing through Genre Films.
