Deadpool 3 (2024) duo actor Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy are returning to work on another comedy movie titled Boy Band. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds will be both starring in the project and producing it through Maximum Effort, the production company he founded that help produced Deadpool 2 (2018), Free Guy (2021), The Adam Project (2022), and Spirited (2022).
Levy will be producing through 21 Laps Entertainment, which helped create I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (2003), Night At The Museum (2006), Arrival (2016), Stranger Things (2016), and Shadow and Bone (2021).
Reynolds co-wrote the script with Jesse Andrews, known for his novel turned adaptation Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) and Luca (2021).
There is limited information on the film, but The Hollywood Reporter describes it as a “boy band reunion movie.”
Reynolds and Levy are no strangers to comedy films. There is Deadpool 3, which is releasing in 2024, but the duo also worked together on Free Guy (2021), the action-comedy movie about someone realizing they are an NPC in a video game.
This will not be his first time singing in a movie if Reynolds’ character is part of the boy band. He shared the stage with Will Ferell in the musical comedy, Spirited, where he had several musical numbers and solos.
