Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum are teaming up to create an adaption of Stephen King’s famous short story, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone for Netflix. Both Murphy and Blum are producing powerhouses in the industry, with the two helping to create some of the most well-known stories and films of recent years.
Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is a short story from iconic horror author Stephen King. Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is a short story from King’s short story collection If It Bleeds.
The story follows a young boy who ends up befriending an older man who happens to be a billionaire. The two may come from the same neighborhood, but they firs start to bond over the older man’s iPhone. When the older man eventually dies, the young boy snoops through his phone and finds that using the phone; he is still able to communicate with his friend. Using voicemails, the two can communicate.
In addition to Murphy and Blum producing, Carla Hacken will also produce alongside the pair. John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side) will both direct and write the feature.
As of now, it is unknown when the film will start production or when the official cast will be announced.
