Joe and Anthony Russo are returning to Marvel!

They are in talks to direct the next two Avengers movies. The duo previously directed the films Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. This collectively brought in $6.681 billion in the box office according to consequence film, proving they are a reliable creative pair for the MCU to return to.

The brothers had expressed interest in making their return to the MCU, specifically due to their interest in adapting the Secret Wars storyline. This aligns with Marvel’s sixth Avengers movie being titled Avengers: Secret Wars. The fifth Avengers movie would set up this next installment, much like Infinity War did for End Game.

There is no writer attached to the project yet, but they have slated Avengers 5 for a May 2026 release and Avengers for a May 2027 release.
