According to Variety, the Orange is the New Black phenomenon, Ruby Rose, is in talks with Universal and Gold Circle to join the cast of Pitch Perfect 3. Rose has been busy with other works such as XXX: Return of Xander Cage. She will play one of the female leads co-starring with Vin Diesel. This movie opens January 20th, 2017. In 2017, she will also star in Resident Evil: Final Chapter, and John Wick 2, opposite of Keanu Reeves.
Trish Sie will be directing, following Elizabeth Banks who directed the sequel. Banks will stay on board as a producer along with Max Handelman, of Brownstone Productions, and Paul Books from Gold Circle.
The screenplay for the third installment will be written by Kay Cannon, with help from Mike White and Dana Fox.
Plot details and Rose’s part in the film have yet to be revealed. However, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow are all signed on to reprise their roles for the third film. Skylar Astin, who played Kendrick’s love interest and a member of the male acapella group in the first two installments, recently revealed that The Trebletones would not be playing a part in the third film.
The film will be released next year, December 22nd of 2017. The original film was directed by Jason Moore, and cost $15 million to produce. However, it became a blockbuster hit which warranted the second movie.
