A judge in Los Angeles ruled that porn actor and serial predator Ron Jeremy cannot stand trial due to his dementia. After being arrested for these crimes in 2020, he faced a maximum sentence of 300 years in prison.
Jeremy was accused of assaulting 21 women over several decades, starting in the early 1990s. His victims raged in from age 15 to 51. A grand jury indicted him on 34 cases of sexual assault, 12 of which were rape charges. The actor pleads not guilty to all charges.
Judge Ronald S. Harris said that Jeremy – referred to by his real name Ronald Hyatt – is in an “incurable neurocognitive decline” and that his condition “would most likely not be restorable.” Jeremy’s trial was initially set to start early last year, but the judge delayed it due to Jeremy’s dementia.
In a statement to Deadline, Jeremy’s lawyer, Stuart Goldfarb, commented, “when he was arrested two years ago, I said he would be found innocent of all charges. Two years have passed and with the additional discovery I received I believed he would have been found innocent. It is unfortunate due to mental condition he will not go to trial and have the opportunity to clear his name.”
Jeremy was absent at the trial. He is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. Another hearing will take place on February 7th to determine where to place Jeremy.
