Ringo Starr In Beatles Films From Sam Mendes To Be Played By Barry Keoghan

An upcoming adaptation of the life and history of the iconic band The Beatles has just landed one of its key players. Band member Ringo Starr will be portrayed by Barry Keoghan, which was confirmed by Starr himself.

During his time with The Beatles, Ringo was the drummer and even did the vocals for a select few songs. After the Beatles, he would form his own band, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. Both he and Paul McCartney are the last two living members of the band.

Ringo himself starred in a handful of films over his career, including ones that he would headline with the other Beatles as well. Some of these included Hard Days Night as well as Help!, among other documentary features about his performances he’d play.

Keoghan himself has become a seasoned actor since he made his debut. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor following his appearance in The Banshees Of Inisherin, but lost to Ke Huy Quan for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Most recently, Keoghan had a leading role in 2023’s Saltburn, starring alongside Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant. Some of his other noteworthy works include Killing Of A Sacred Deer, The Green Knight, and Dunkirk.

As well as reporting on the casting, Deadline made note of the fact that this spin on the story of the Beatles won’t be one film, but rather four. Director Sam Mendes of 1917 fame is crafting all four to stand on their own, each focusing on one specific member of the group, while managing to tie them all together and form a big picture of the band.
