Filmmaker and producer Richard Trank is launching his own production studio called Sea Point Films and Media. The studio will be primarily focused on developing nonfiction projects, but narrative projects are still on the table. There are already 3 documentaries in the works, two of which have already begun development.
The Road Home follows a group of Israelis after the attacks on October 7, 2023. It will feature interviews with victims of the attacks as well as with freed hostages. The other documentary in production is Always 28, a story about Nathan B. Baskind, a Jewish-American soldier who fought on D-Day in World War II. The film itself follows a non-profit group looking to bring his body home.
Toto & Coco is another planned film, which will be adapting the best-selling novel Toto & Coco: Spies, Seduction and the Fight for Survival. The story centers around the relationship between Toto Koopman and Coco Chanel as they spy on the Nazis for British Intelligence during World War II.
Richard Trank has been working in the film business for over 30 years. He won an Oscar in 1998 for the documentary The Long Way Home, which focused on Jewish refugees seeking asylum after the Holocaust. Other films he has been involved with include Against the Tide, I Have Never Forgotten You: The Life & Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal, Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny and It Is No Dream.
