Director, writer, producer Peter Bogdanovich (Paper Moon, Mask, What’s Up Doc?), will celebrate his 74th birthday next week, but that doesn’t seem to be slowing him down one bit. Bogdanovich is presently filming his latest romantic comedy, Squirrels To The Nuts, on the streets of New York.
Stand-up funny man and actor Richard Lewis (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Robin Hood: Men In Tights), has just joined the cast that includes Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses, the soon to be released We’re The Millers), Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, The Internship), and Kathryn Hahn (How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days).
Due to casting difficulties and other hang-ups, Squirrels To The Nuts has been three years in the making. It was written by Bogdanovich and Louise Stratten (younger sister of slain actress Dorothy Stratten). The story focuses on the relationship between a Broadway director (played by Owen Wilson), who falls in love with a prostitute trying to break into show business (Kathryn Hahn). Jennifer Aniston plays Wilson’s psychiatrist, while Richard Lewis takes the role as the girl’s father, and Cybill Shepherd (Summer of 42 and Bogdanovich protege), plays the mother.
Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach are producing, with Antonia Bogdanovich co-producing.
Squirrels To The Nuts will premiere in the summer of 2014.
