At Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic Con 2024, it opened with an announcement that their most recent film Deadpool & Wolverine opened at 30 billion in the opening weekend box office.
They then proceeded to announce 3 movies coming out in 2025.
The first is Captain America: Brave New World. The previously reported cast includes Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez. Anthony Mackie, and Giancarlo Esposito. When Ramirez was asked how it felt to wear the wings he responded with “I feel at home in the skies”. Giancarlo Esposito is playing king of the serpent society, Sidewinder. He received his powers after surviving a cobra bite, and is out to take Captain America down.
They then played a clip from new film Admantium, announcing a February 2025 release. It opens in a secure location in the White House, where a briefing is being held. The president, played by Harrison Ford, is asking Anthony Mackie to rebuild the Avengers. Following this ask, the White House is blown to pieces, and the president turns into a giant red hulk.
After the clip showed, Ford walked out on stage, “I’m proud to become a part of the Marvel universe”.
The third film, Thunderbolts, is scheduled for a May 2025 release. It stars Wyatt Russell, Julia Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Hannah John-Kamen.
All the actors were lined up on stage following the announcement. Stan said in response to the warm welcome from the crowd, “I’m so grateful to see everybody here”. Describing the movie, Pugh said “This movie is so wonderful and bizarre and it’s very brave”.
