Renée Zellweger entrances as Judy Garland in the new trailer for Judy, a biopic based on the acclaimed play End of the Rainbow, by Peter Quilter. The film is set primarily in 1969 in Britain, the same year The Wizard of Oz star died of an accidental barbiturate overdose at the age of 47. It will follow her five-week-run at the nightclub The Talk of the Town as she deals with the pressures of being an aging star and mother while battling her lifelong drug and alcohol addiction. The trailer shows Zellweger as Garland as she tries to balance her duties while falling in love with her soon-to-be fifth husband Mickey Deans.

Also starring in this film is Jessie Buckley as Rosalyn Wilder, a production assistant who worked with Garland, Finn Wittrock as Mickey Deans, Garland’s fifth husband, Rufus Sewell as Sidney Luft, Garland’s second husband, and Michael Gambon as Bernard Delfont, a theatrical impresario. and Bella Ramsey as Lorna Luft, Garland’s daughter.
The film was directed by Rupert Goold and the screenplay was written by Tom Edge.
The film is set to be released in the United States on September 27, 2019, and in the United Kingdom on October 4, 2019.
