After nearly a two year hiatus from acting, Renée Zellweger is teaming with Michael Patrick King for the film The Back Nine. The Back Nine revolves around a former pro-golfer (Zellweger), who decides to be a housewife instead of pursuing her golf career. However, she soon realizes, after her marriage falls apart, that maybe her true love was golf the whole time.
Zellweger won her second Academy Award for her portrayal of Hollywood icon Judy Garland in the properly titled Judy. However, Zellweger typically does not take on many projects all at once. The successful actor has been in the industry for nearly three decades and has accumulated around fifty credits, which is a lot of course, but some actors have hundreds by this time. Though, Zellweger obviously has two nice Academy Awards under her belt.
Michael Patrick King is a rather prolific writer, director, and producer who has had a big hand in the success of the Sex and the City and 2 Broke Girls TV series. This will be the director’s first feature film not based on a TV show. He has previously directed both of the Sex and the City movies.
There is no set production or release date for the Landline film.
