Academy Award winners Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump), Brad Pitt (12 Years a Slave), and Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose) are teaming up for an as-yet-untitled WWII spy romance, to be released by Paramount Pictures and GK Films on November 23, 2016.
Zemeckis will be directing from an original story by Steven Knight (Burnt) with Pitt and Cotillard playing assassins who fall in love while on a mission to kill a German official. Their romance takes a sudden dive when Pitt discovers a secret that leads him to turn on Cotillard.
The film will be produced by Zemeckis, Graham King, and Steve Starkey. Executive producers are Knight, Jack Rapke, Patrick McCormick, and Denis O’Sullivan.
Pitt is getting to be a WWII war veteran, at least theatrically, having served in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, and in David Ayer’s Fury last year. Cotillard’s role as an assassin will come in handy, as she will be appearing in Assassin’s Creed next year. Creed will see her re-teaming with Michael Fassbender and helmer Justin Kurzel; all three worked together on Macbeth, which takes the stage on December 4th.
